Extracting from the hero dish of the restaurant - Xiao Long Bao, bamboo baskets transformed into different forms in both abstract and physical way. Mix & Match with bamboo element, the facade was an art piece of traditional handcrafting. The woven bamboo trees spread their branches and crowns up to the top of the restaurant which re-create the scene of nature with a taste of art, and the use of earth tone increase the welcoming ambience through out the space. For another star dish in the restaurant is La Mian. The Japanese Artist, Studio Swanda Design, was invited to create art pieces named “Dancing Noodle”. The “Dancing Noodle” was inspired by the making of La Mian. Alongside the dining area, a row of illuminated glass art-panel cannot be missed, the making of Xiao Long Bao also inspired designer in an innovated way. With reference to the circular cascade of ripples around the crown of Xiao Long Bao, the folding technique is imitated to the Wagami (Traditional Japanese paper) in the origination of the custom made wagami laminated glass panel. The “Xiao Long Bao” feature lighting gives emphasis to the pith of the restaurant. The well blend of materials usage creates layer by layer from in and out, the restaurant is full of texture with the diversity of material. More than simply a place for causal dinning, the restaurant is designed to evoke the art of traditional Chinese cuisine. Customers will more appreciate with the foods’ origin and their story behind.
