Jinyi Movie Sky Club
Canton Tower, Guangzhou, China
2012

Cinema on the Cloud

Being the second highest building in China, the Canton Tower has another record: there is the highest 4D cinema in China. It is an honor to host in this VVIP Jinyi Sky Club, enjoy the exclusive theatre experience alongside the magnificent view of Guangzhou.

Although enclosing with the stunning view outside, the inside interior design has not being outshined. The inspiration is from the philosophy of Chinese gardening which has evolved for over three thousand years: the landscape is carefully composed with various scenes forming a winding path to raise visitor’s curiosity. We used cloud ribbons to replace the green components of gardening, rolling through the cinema; undulating shape divides different functional zones. The Whole space is composed by immaculate white fiber glass reinforced gypsum. This almost seamless material is perfect for modern interior and architectural structure, which Zaha Hadid has applied on her Guangzhou Opera House project as well. The cinema occupies several floors and not to surprise, even the back stairs are stylishly designed.

This impressive “cinema on the cloud” design is ideal for the high profile Jinyi Sky Club, matching with its altitude.
